When you buy a Port Pass, billing happens automatically as part of the purchase flow. When a pass holder is added, Port Pass charges the corresponding pass fees to your company’s default payment method or deducts the amount from your Port Pass wallet, depending on how you pay. Port Pass then creates an invoice and makes your billing information available in the billing portal.
Billing starts when you buy a pass
Billing starts as soon as you buy a pass in Port Pass, whether you add one pass holder manually or add multiple pass holders through bulk upload. The purchase flow may look slightly different, but the billing logic is the same in both cases.
Before you can buy passes
Before you can buy passes in Port Pass, your company must have:
a valid default payment method or enough Port Pass wallet balance
a valid VAT number
When you add a pass holder, the corresponding pass fees are charged automatically to your company’s default payment method or deducted from your wallet balance. If no payment method is available and there is not enough wallet balance, Port Pass will ask you to add a payment method or top up your wallet first.
VAT is calculated automatically based on your company’s invoice address. To create correct invoices, your company must also have a valid VAT number on file. If needed, Port Pass will ask you to update it in the billing portal before purchase.
For more information, see Adding a payment method, How to use your Port Pass wallet, and How to use the billing portal.
After your purchase
After a successful purchase, Port Pass creates an invoice for the passes you bought.
If you buy passes in bulk, your purchase can result in multiple invoices. Port Pass splits bulk purchases into invoices of up to 100 passes each.
You can find your invoices and manage your billing information in the billing portal. There, you can view invoice history, download invoices, and update billing details such as your payment method, billing address, email address, and VAT number.
